Although the most common use case is not missing your bus stop, a location alarm is useful in any situation where "getting close to a place" matters more than "how much time has passed":
- Napping on the bus, subway, or train on your daily commute to work or college.
- Long trips on intercity or chartered buses, when it's easy to lose track of time.
- Visiting an unfamiliar city, without knowing how to recognize the landmarks near the stops.
- Routes with multiple transfers, where it's worth having more than one alarm active at the same time.
- Trips by subway or train, where the stations look alike and it's easy to lose count.
Location alarm vs. navigation apps (Waze, Google Maps)
It's common to think "but Google Maps already shows me where I am, why do I need another app?". The difference is in what each one was built to do. Navigation apps are made to guide someone who's in control of the route, usually driving, with the screen on, showing turn-by-turn directions in real time. They expect constant attention.
A location alarm starts from the opposite premise: you're not going to look at the screen. It's designed to run quietly in the background, with the screen locked and the phone on low volume in your pocket, and to speak up in only one way (a loud, persistent alarm) at the exact moment you need to act. There are no route instructions, no rerouting, no distractions: there's just the question "am I close yet?" being checked in the background.
